As I reach for the sunlight, I am met with a cascading darkness. I spent my youth wondering why my friends all seemed to tread effortlessly through air, while I struggled to keep up in water. Elaborately tailored plans spanning five years, actually knowing what career they wanted, gaping gaps between our timelines. I admit it, I’ve always been something of a spectator in life, preferring to watch the world spin before taking action. While I grew content with being swayed by the wind, I couldn’t help but wonder why my day felt an hour shorter than everyone else’s. 

There comes a time every so often when I realize I know nothing. While I’m close to finishing the first quarter of my life, I still feel more connected to the unconscious feeling of a toddler rather than a mature adult. But as I’m pushed into the mind of a teenager without the reins that directed me as a kid, I find myself searching for security in what I love.

I think I was put on this world to sleep. Every night I lay upon my pillow and dream of worlds far-far-away. There’s something so innately beautiful about sleeping; breaking the shackles of the mortal being, transcending to something greater than yourself. It’s the closest man will get to the stars.

When I was in elementary school, I wished to be as hip as my older brother, who was already attending middle school. But once I attained middle school and saw my brother working late into the night to finish his homework, I no longer looked forward to high school. I always thought high school was too difficult and I would not survived.

 But, on the other side of the conversation: does that encourage people to text while driving just because they feel safer letting go of the steering wheel? What’s to say that having autopilot won’t encourage someone who's intoxicated to drive? Therefore, these AI features and sensors can be easily misused by drivers. Tesla Autopilot serves as an invitation for people, like my carpool driver, to multitask while driving.
