About Us

OUR MISSION:

Perception Magazine aims to connect students across different disciplines under one publication. Perception aims to fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and collaboration.

OUR VISION:

A club where all writers and editors can collaborate over shared interest in an inclusive, safe space.

HOW WE WILL ACHIEVE THIS:

Weekly meetings, monthly community volunteering events, weekly articles uploaded to website, and 2 yearly issues

    EDITOR-IN-CHIEF

    Alaina is a junior at CCA. She started the club with her sister to create an inclusive environment on-campus where students, like her, can explore their passions through writing. She has always enjoyed reading and writing in her free time. Her favorite writing genre is poetry.

    EXECUTIVE EDITOR

    Cindy is a junior at CCA. She is passionate about storytelling, social impact, and youth advocacy, with a strong interest in literature and journalism that explore real-world issues, particularly health, business, and social equity. In her free time, she enjoys reading, learning new languages, and playing the piano.

    EXECUTIVE EDITOR

    Yufei Wu is a junior at Canyon Crest Academy. She joined the club to inspire more students to explore writing and the world around them. As an editor, she values strong structure and precise diction. Outside of school, she is involved in Science Olympiad and plays the flute in her local orchestra.

    Lindsay is a sophmore at CCA who enjoys drawing in her free time. She also likes messaging her friends, but severely dislikes mosquitoes.

    Ling is a junior at CCA. She has always loved humanities, especially history and philosophy. In her free time, Ling enjoys reading, hiking, and playing the piano.

  • Monica Lopez

    CREATIVE DIRECTOR

    Monica is a junior at CCA. She was one of the minions who helped piece together the first forms of the magazine in sweaty middle school years. Her favorite genre of reading is physiological thrillers with one-on-one narrative dialogues (basically weird diaries that are published. Her favorite hobbies include music, whether that’s playing, listening, or creating it.

    ARTIST

    Han is a junior at CCA. She loves drawing and sketching in her free time.

  • Angela Xue

    LAYOUT ARTIST

    Anglea is a junior at CCA who loves watching animes and drawing in her free time. She also likes to hang out with friends or participate in STEM competitions.

  • Jayden Zhang

    PHOTOGRAPHER

    Jayden Zhang is a San-Diego based photographer/filmmaker. Through diaristic films and epiphanic writings, he aims to both document the self and the world around him. It is his firm belief that anyone may write about an objective truth, but an introspective mind is needed to converse about abstract ideas.
